Assalamualaikum,
We always busy with our life, right? Sometime we did not even have time to meet, sms, or chat with our friends. It same goes to me. Last couple of night, I had a chit chat with my old friend; she used to be my best friend before. After a period, we finally had a talk, a really good chat I think.
I miss friends that can remind me of my bad and I miss friends that can give me advices. But I don’t know why, those friends are no longer with me. Perhaps! It comes from my mistake.
We had a long conversation via yahoo messenger.
One of the questions she asked me was about how to get in love with books, how to love reading.
Frankly speaking, I thanked to my Abah who bought me books when I was small. Usually, they were stories books and motivation books. I still remembered after I had finished reading one book, he would buy me another book. It was continuously happen until I finished primary school. After that, I started to buy my own book when I was at secondary school until now.
The answer for her question
First, you should identify your interest, and read books that related to what you like. As for a beginner, you should expose yourself to light reading books. (That why parent give children story books but of course make sure the books content values). If you think the interest of reading already exists, then you should teach yourself to read advance books, like bibliography books, motivation books, Islamic teaching books, and etc. It is to make sure you gain knowledge which you did not know in class. Finally, keep reading and enjoy the books.
“Read! In the name of your Lord” Allah had already mentioned in surah Al-Alaq.
Good Luck!
